Danser Marie, Danser la Femme

The Marian vigils Dancing Mary, dancing the woman were presented in several churches of the Beaujolais region, beginning at Cenves Church. These evenings brought together song, dance, and prayer in honor of Mary, offering a luminous experience of devotion and artistic expression. The repertoire wove together Gregorian, Byzantine, French, and Lebanese chants, works by Hildegard of Bingen, and pieces such as The Mantle of the Virgin of Guadalupe, creating a living celebration of communion and joy.

These performances grew out of a two-day retreat in Cenves, where prayer, voice, and movement became paths of contemplation. This meditative and expressive process transformed inner reflection into a shared artistic and spiritual offering.

The project was supported by the International Dance Council (CID), official partner of UNESCO, within the Dance & Christianity group.
